Floating and swimming in water as old as mankind but the floating tanks themselves were developed in the 1960s by John Lilly a who was reseaching into meditation and it's effect on our physiology and psychology. During an experiment into sensory deprivation he discovered that his test subjects enjoyed the feeling of deep relaxation in the tank.

The Floating Tank is filled with water salt mixture kept at body temperature, the saturation of epsom salt ensures that you float in the water providing a feeling of weightlessness like a cork in water.

The most fascinating feature of floating is the unusually deep level of physical and mental relaxation achieved. Floating reduces the subjective feeling of stress, eases pain and produces a feeling of physical and mental well being.

The floating tank eases you gentle out of the day to day hussle and bussle and into a state of deep physical peace and relaxation while simultaneously producing a feeling of mental clarity. The tank is insulated against sound and light and the salt water is kept at body temperature, thus reducing all outside influences to a minimum.

Information before floating for the first time:

  1. We provide you with towels, shower  and skin care products, ear plugs and a hair dryer.
  2. We recomend that you remove all jewelery and contact lenses.
  3. It is forbidden to float under the influence of psychogenic medicines, alcohol or drugs.
  4. Please don't float if you don't believe you are capable of getting in and out of the tank by yourself.
  5. You shouldn't float if you have a strong cough.
  6. unfortunately it is not possible to float if you suffer from an untreated epileptic illness.
  7. we recomend that you use the ear plugs we provide.
  8. Please switch off your mobile phone.
  9. small skin blemishes or cuts can cause a brief burning sensation. It is however possible to cover these with Vaseline.
  10. Please wait at least 14 days after dyeing or colouring your hair as it may cause a discolouration of the water.
  11. For purely hygenic reasons please don't use float tank shortly before and during menstruation.
